Spacing driver and panel mounting screws.....

...... on vented cabinet for domestic use. Overall dimensions same as an 828.

Thinking 6 inches apart for clamping rear panel(glued),

5 inches apart for the 2-piece front panel(removable) and

4 holes for 416 driver mounting as typically used on Altec plans.

Is this adequate?

Regarding panels....I use one close to the corner and one in the center...then keep dividing the distance in half like this...

Say you have screws at 0", 12" and 24" next step would be 0", 6", 12", 18", 24"

Next step would be 3 inch spacing. I stop when it looks good. Got started that way, have done it for 45 years.

A variation I have done is 0"' 12', 24" then look for handy divisor, a 4 inch seems OK, so then it would be 0", 4", 8", 12", 16", 20", 24"

The only advantage to this method is it looks more regular.

Id you start with an arbitrary spacing say 4", a 19 inch panel would work out at 0-4-8-12-16-20, woops no 20 so an odd spacing.

I don't usually put the screw right in the corner. If I mitered the braces there is a joint there. Generally an inch either side of the corner.

GM, your reference recommends 3 inch spacing. I marked out the removable front panels with this spacing and it looks OK. I will go with it.

Mine are a little over 3" to look 'right', so not real anal about it. Anyway, this is based on relatively small access panels, larger panels with stiffeners such as the rear cover of an 828 can get by with 8" spacing.
